, there are lots of questions, one of which includes how police are handling this case. thelma gutierrez joins us live. was this a cult? what's going on here? >> reporter: don, obviously, there's some kind of a disconnect between the stories that the spouses told investigators and what now the women are telling investigators. so, we're not exactly sure exactly how this thing is going to come out, but i can tell you that they belong to a church here in palmdale. these women say that they just broke off from the church. they went off on these little prayer sessions that they would organize on their own. they routinely would come out to the desert and pray overnight and so, something happened, don, that made the husbands go into authorities and say, we're very concerned. authorities look through some of the belongings that these women left behind, cell phones, apparently letters that were interpreted as good-bye notes, and they wanted to know, were these children, eight children and five women, in any kind of danger. so, they said they wanted to err on the side of caution and so, they started this h

and recent college graduates. it got us thinking about the promises the president made as he came into office. of course, when he first got into office, very beginning no approval rating until we took one about february of 2009. it showed 76% of americans approved of the job he was doing. and then in february of -- now i should say it is 50% down. some 20 points. down some 20 points. look at this brand new poll of polls. not our poll. this shows that it's down 46%. down to 46%. the president's approval rating. that's not even our poll. take a look at this, though. this is all despite some legislative victories that the president had. health care reform. remember that? although very controversial, financial regulatory overhaul. the stimulus. plus, two supreme court justice confirmations. talking about sonia socieewonia and what is the problem, then? of course, it's the economy and unemployment, as the president heard yesterday. when he got into office, a poll taken around february of 2009. he was at 8.2%. now 9.6% and some think it's going up to 10% unprecedented, very tough for the president

for joining us. we start tonight in san bruno, cafornia, where there are new questions about that gas pipeline that exploded on thursday killing at least four people. some are still missing. cnn has obtained a document from the owner, pg & e, saying the pipeline had a relatively high risk and likelihood of failure. some residents were escorted back to their homes today to see the damage to their neighborhood. those with the most dadly damaged homes are still being kept away. cnn's ted rowland went along with one family left speechless by the devastation. >> holy [ bleep ]. what the [ bleep ] is that? >> reporter: this incredible home video was captured moments after the explosion from a house balcony just behind the gas pipe. the voice you hear belongs to walter mccaffrey. he had one hand on his video camera, the other on his phonei telling his wife not to come home with their three children. this is the view from that deck now. walter and his wife werey allowd back unday aernoon to their house for the first time since the explosion. >> just looking at all this, i mean, i saw all this from the

more than a year in an iranian prison sayro shourd is back in the u.s. following her release last week. shourd was let go after she reportedly found a lump in her breast, but now she says that doctors in oman told her she is physically well. shourd is one of three american hikers detained by iran after they allegedly crossed over the border from iraq in july of 2009. well, today she thanked iran for letting her go, but called on the country to release her fiance shane bauer and their friend josh fattal. shourd's arrival comes as iranian president mahmoud ahmadinejad is visit being new york. he's in town for the united nations general assembly session that begins tomorrow. in an interview with abc, ahmadinejad talked about the relieves sarah shourd and said he'd like to see some resipcation from the u.s. >> translator: it's true that the islamic republic of iran took a humanitarian measure and released one of the three individuals who entered our borders, miss sarah shrewd. this was a huge humanitarian gesture. now you may be aware that eight iranians are illegally being detained in the
